Onwards!

Productive day, in my mind at least. The advanced group as a whole had to present our progress to the class. Ali led off with a general synopsis of what we have all been working on followed by individual input on the areas we've all worked on and ideas we have discussed.

Afterward the backpack group huddled together and discussed the next phase: construction. We've decided to meet next Monday and Wednesday to assemble, map out fastener/bracket placement and decide on how best to paint the beast of a backpack we are working on. I made some basic sketches of how the doors will go on with the new idea out forth today. There will be hinges on the ends and a short wooden piece in the center to hold magnetic fasteners so the doors will be able to swing open in an outward direction.

I also think the backpack frame came in today too, I will be checking tomorrow morning to see if it was delivered. If that is in then planning how to attach the cross to the frame should also be feasible next week. I feel pretty good about all the planning that went on today and everyone seems to agree that we should be able to finish construction next week. The past few days have been spent measuring and cutting the major sections of the board. Pics can be found here. Jen took some good pics of us working. Jon is the guy in the white t-shirt and I'm in blue. Jen and Jon cut all of the pieces out on Tuesday night and Jon is going to bevel the side and end pieces this weekend. There is a video of Jen cutting somewhere, i think it might be on David's site. He's been recording just about everything we have all been doing and with Anhkhoa's help editing the video.

Progress! Woooo!
