...that I had in my bag concerning the overall designs that the group came up with, I'll add some description to explain what I remember. I'm also including some of the stores I contacted concerning the ALICE pack frame (aka the rucksack frame). I used the tried and true method of calling to see if any of these stores had what we needed, no use wasting gas only for disappointment right? It is a good thing I called too since the stores either did not have the frame or they had it at a higher cost than I was willing to pay. So on to the pics!
I'll start with the sketches of various designs.
The following two sketches are the two ideas I brought to the initial group discussions where we each brought two designs to discuss with the group; mine were "survivor" and "help". Each concept basically revolved around increasing an aspect of what the Red Cross worker would be expected to do in the field, either being able to survive or being able to render aid, for longer periods of time semi-autonomously.
These pictures are of some better sketches done by another member in the group combining some design features of various concepts.
This last sketch is of my initial idea for a frame to mount the backpack on before I realized that a rucksack frame would probably be the way to go since it would allow us more time to work on the backpack itself.
And here are the stores I called: Steven's Creek Surplus, The Mountain View, Mel Cotton's and Discount Surplus.
Of these four stores only Steven's Creek had a price that was good for our budget, they just didn't have any in stock. So I went hunting on the internet and found frames on Amazon for around $33, not to shabby a price for getting the straps and pads along with the frame.
So not too bad a week, our little group came up with three plans and I found a frame for an acceptable price. I don't have the papers that we use to map out the three plans, I'll have to make a link to Ricky's page at some point.
